My Method
Online tools are very effective for lessons! This is how it works:

A 1-hour video call for the lesson

Lesson notes shared with the student and updated every week

Links from those notes to videos, recordings, PDFs, etc.

Online multitrack recording - the student and I make and edit recordings together

The constant exchange of audio and video recordings, uploaded to our shared folder
The last item is so important! By hearing and seeing you play I'm able to give you detailed feedback. And when you hear and see me play you have an up-close example to work with. I often make a short video during a lesson, right when the topic comes up. I upload it to the shared folder and the student has it forever.
My students and I have been using this method to our advantage for years now. It's really wonderful to open up the searchable lesson notes document, which over time becomes a treasure trove of ideas, exercises, and resources.
